Bright Night

I spend a long time observing a picture before I paint.

Here is the link to the reference photo: https://www.pexels.com/photo/two-brown-houses-covered-with-snow-1417647/

It is very weird and I do not know if another artist goes through the same painting process BEFORE painting, but when I see a picture I like I picture myself painting it first.

Painting Flowers - Video

Watch the video below for the process.

Me time!

Last week, I took some time off in Calgary to relax and have some 'me' time. I visited Fish Creek and painted some beautiful snowy scenes. The weather was surprisingly warm, with temperatures above zero!

I also had the chance to explore Heritage Park, which was absolutely stunning for painting in peace. I discovered a cute café called Railway Café, where I treated myself to a delicious latte while enjoying the quiet surroundings.

If you're looking for a peaceful experience, I recommend trying different places to paint, like parks, cafes, or lakesides. It's a calming experience that will leave your soul feeling refreshed and grateful for the time you give yourself.

Painting Birch Trees

I was so glad with the results of this painting.

I used painter's tape for the closest trees and borders of my paper, and Molotow art masking fluid for the far thinner trees in the background. The surface I use to tape my paper on is glass.

To paint the background trees I used a #2 brush and the surface is very thin. The front trees are painted with Quinacridone Gols and Paynes Gray.

List of colors I used: Quinacridone Gols, Paynes Gray, Crimson Lake, Permanent Yellow Deep and Vandyke Brown.
